STIMULUS-RESPONSE

In terms of chronic, nervous disorders, genetics may be less useful in the sense that the nervous system is so complex (see index, point 6) & there are a multiplicity of factors: herbal, exercise (lifestyle), environment (synthetic drugs). These are all active-ingredients: SEE ENDOCANNABINOIDS.The nervous-system has inbuilt responses to these types of stimuli. The difference with genes is they don't respond!

PARALLEL PLOTLINE

You have to ask how much of health ISN'T dependent on stimulus-response? If you drink a cup of green tea (for the anti-oxidant, natch) your metabolism tends to respond to its effects! Contrariwise, if a bug enters your lungs you tend to respond negatively.

What those 4 or so examples  (frequently updated!) show is it's not 'breeding genes in quantity' that's so vital as having the data from populations that enable gene-variants to be cross-checked. It's this 'real' hereditary information that enables the mechanism to be pinpointed (example 3).  

In terms of this approach what it suggests is 'quality' data is preferable to arbitrary 'quantity'.  What this website is supposing is genetic data is made more specific by relating it to 'real' data: population sampling etc. This enables gene-variants to be cross-checked & pin-pointed.

 

CHRONIC

 

In terms of nervous disorders the 'real mechanisms' are just as subtle (more so, maybe) but more likely to involve active (stimulus-response) mechanisms - see Endocannabinoids. (1) Computer games buffs could have a field day here - it makes sense to 'reprogram' genes so long as the environment they're in is the same. It's NOT their environment you're changing - this is already set-down by nature! It's called 'species' by the way

Modifying genes is no big deal since you're just re-programming - you're in the same computer game (virtual environment). It's when you start to mixup species that it gets complicated. After all, in a vid-game you like to have instructions that you can follow so as to move around the environment. I mean, however 'weird' the environment is it has to make sense, right?
